U.S. Embassy invites Nina Vaca to judge pitch competition

Nina Vaca judged a pitch competition at the invitation of the U.S. Embassy in Quito on Sept. 19, 2018.

She spoke to the next generation of leaders who are creating remarkable businesses that will contribute to lasting change within their families, their communities, and the country. The winner was Anuka, biodiversidad aplicada, an initiative that uses local algae to reduce CO2 at a rate 30 times greater than trees.

Vaca also reunited with Ambassador Todd Chapman, who she met with two years ago to discuss how to help the country rebuild following the devastating 2016 earthquake. He agreed that entrepreneurship should be part of his agenda.
